In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of improvisation and how improvisation skills can boost the improve spontaneity and expressiveness in verbal communication. Improvisational comedy trains collaboration, flexibility, risk-taking and communication. The applicability of such an art form hasn’t gone unnoticed. A lot of business schools have improvisation programs (e.g., UCLA, Columbia, Harvard, Indiana, MIT, etc.). These skills help scientists (from graduate students to established scholars) to be better presenters, especially in presenting their research to the general public. The ability to communicate directly and vividly can enhance scientists´ career prospects, help them secure funding, collaborate across disciplines, compete for positions, and serve as effective teachers.
