Bio

Dr. Azim Malikov currently works at the department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts of Palacky university, Sinophone borderlands – Interactions at the edges. His research interests include Identity construction, ethnicity, memory, heritage, nationalism, transformation of intellectual elites, nation-building process in Central Asia. History and culture of Samarkand. He analyzes how history was and is used to legitimate either Sinophobic or Sinophilic narratives and attitudes among citizens of Uzbekistan and identifies other factors that have played or play a major role in shaping attitudes towards China and the Chinese people.
